About me
I am a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, Ph.D., with over forty years of experience in the yachting world. I have held prestigious positions, such as head of constructions for the Azzurra Syndicate at the 1987 America's Cup and Director of the Marine Division at SAI Ambrosini, where I built two world-champion maxi yachts. I have designed pleasure boats, both series and one-off, special ships for state marine services, and racing powerboats. Since 1999 I pursued a brilliant academic career as a university professor teaching at various Italian and European universities, holding the role of Associate Professor at the University of Naples Federico II. As researcher, I have been a key figure in experimental research on high speed hullforms and published over 60 scientific articles. Today I teach at the Master in Yacht Design at Milano Politecnico and I am dedicated to consulting and sharing knowledge through my online platform, Bertorello Academy.
